Ceramic Care Guide & FAQ

Ceramic Care Guide & FAQ

Each ceramic piece in our collection is handmade and one of a kind. A little care goes a long way toward preserving its beauty and integrity for years to come.

How should I wash my ceramic piece?

We recommend hand-washing all ceramics with warm water and a mild dish soap. Use a soft cloth or sponge โ€” avoid abrasive scrubbers, which can scratch glazed surfaces or wear down unglazed areas. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry, or dry gently with a soft towel.

Is my piece dishwasher-safe?

We cannot make a universal dishwasher-safe claim for all pieces in our collection. The high heat, harsh detergents, and water pressure in dishwashers can cause crazing, fading, and cracking over time. Hand-washing is always the safest option to protect your piece.

Can I use my ceramic in the microwave?

Microwave suitability varies by piece and is not universally confirmed for our collection. Unless a specific piece has been individually verified as microwave-safe, we recommend not placing ceramics in the microwave.ย

What about heat and temperature changes?

Ceramics are sensitive to sudden temperature shifts โ€” a practice known as thermal shock. Avoid moving a piece directly from a cold environment (such as a refrigerator) into a very hot one (such as an oven or boiling water), as this can cause cracking. Always allow pieces to come to room temperature gradually.

Why does my piece look slightly different from the photos?

Every piece we carry is handmade, which means no two are exactly alike. Variations in glaze color, texture, surface pattern, and form are intrinsic to the craft โ€” they are a feature, not a flaw. These natural differences are what make each piece genuinely one of a kind.
